Google Display Ads are another form of advertising within the Google AdWord framework. Google's display ads are typically those ads which are displayed on their Display Network. The Display Network is a network of third party websites that run Google's AdSense, or are in effect Google ad publishers. These websites display a mixture of plain text ads as well as banner ads in various sizes. These ads are then displayed on these websites where the publisher will make a percentage of the advertising costs that Google might charge the advertiser.
Google recently released their next generation of analytics, named Universal Analytics. Officially announced that it had been released from Beta on the 2nd of April, Universal Analytics will become the standard form of Analytics in the near future.
When most people think of Google they immediately think of Google search. SEO has evolved from a business of attaining rankings to one that drives quality traffic to a website. Often our SEO clients will want to rank for very broad search phrases such as "real estate" or "homes for sale", however these phrases are unlikely to draw a targeted visitor. While there may indeed be a large volume of these searches there appears to be little intent so the likelihood of a smaller agency being able to match such a broad search is slim. Conversely large real estate portals can often match such a broad search as they are likely to cover a larger number of areas, additional services or more information.

Every time someone searches on Google, AdWords runs an auction to determine which of the ads will show on the search results page, and their rank on the page. In order to place your ads in this auction, you first have to choose how much you'd like to bid. The most commonly used bidding strategy is the cost per click bidding option, which means they only accrue costs based on the clicks that the ads generate.
AdWords (also referred to as "Google AdWords") is a paid search advertising service by Google for businesses or organisations wanting to display ads on Google and its advertising network. The AdWords program enables these businesses and organisations to set a budget for advertising and only pay when people click the ads.
Paid search marketing means you advertise within the sponsored listings of a search engine or a partner site by paying either each time your ad is clicked (pay-per-click - PPC) or less commonly, when your ad is displayed (cost-per-impression - CPM).
I often hear people quote hits as a measurement of website traffic or popularity. This however can be a misleading statistic as many might not understand the difference between a hit a visitor or a view.
There are many sources that could lead traffic to your website. We've broken down the various sources with the aim of better explaining what they mean and where these visitors are originating from.
